So it's May 6th, 2018... I just logged in and found this "catch up" post still in draft form... figured it was about time to publish!
2016 was a super busy year for us, but we've said that about every year... so we're probably just busy people... and our growing family means more busy people are joining in...
We didn't do a great job of posting in quarters 2-4 of 2016, so this post is to try and catch up on things :)
May 2016
| Mel started riding her big pink bike! |
| Lots of hikes with our pre-school group at the nearby nature park. |
| Just hanging out (under mom and dad's big bed). |
June 2016
| "Fat Boy" Ice Cream Bars - the surprise on our Family Home Evening hike to celebrate the beginning of summer in Cache Valley (Becky bought a whole case from one of the girls in her class doing a fundraiser - she was teaching the miamaids at church - can't wait for the next fundraiser...). |
| ...Lydia agrees :) |
| Clements Family Reunion - Southern UT |
| Alvin and his Clark cousins going native in the nature park. |
| Becky and the other "Mountain Mama's" and their first annual "Mamas' Camp" |
| Fun |
Drew started work on a Flip in Roy on June first and bought another property in Smithfield at the end of June... busy, but good.
| Funky mushrooms growing out of the basement carpet in the Smithfield house... that's what happens when people move out and a house sits vacant for 3 months with leaking washer hookups. |
July 2016
| Independence Day! We just got a bunch of the cheap wire sparklers... but made them a bit safer with sticks that had clothes-pin holders duct taped to the end :) Once it got dark, we had plenty of fireworks to watch in the neighborhood. |
| The kids took swimming lessons and Becky took them there using the free city bus system... kids thought it was the coolest thing ever :) |
| Becky and I somehow got away on a date - mountain biking Green Canyon.... we need to do that again! |
| At the south end of Logan, there's an awesome nature park that follows the Logan River... we took a pan and dredged up some aquatic life - kids got to play with some leaches and thought they we're pretty cool. |
| This is probably my favorite picture of Summer 2016 - Alvin and Mel chilling out in the grass waiting for the sun to melt their popsicles so they can drink the juice :) |
| The pride and joy of Becky's garden |
| Alvin practicing some new stunts on his bike |
| We went with Grandma to the Idaho Falls Zoo... This is Alvin, but I have a picture just like it somewhere of when I was about the same age - same drinking fountain :) |
| Finally got together with Chelsi and Keya's families (my sisters). All the cousins + a couple second cousins. |
| Drew, Tyler (Cousin), Keya, and Chelsi. |
| Mel LOVES untying knots and tying knots... she was entertained for a good half-hour with the knots Chelsi tied. |
| Games with Grandma at Grandma's house - just gotta play by the house rules (no one leaves the table until Grandma wins!) |
| Family Home Evening service project - filling in the trenches for the new sprinkler system at the Smithfield property. |
August 2016
| Drew hiking Twin Peaks with the brothers-in-law (Kyle, Ricky, and Shawn) |
| Up on the ridgeline. |
| Working our way up. |
| Alvin on a Mountain Bike date with Mom on the riverside trail. |
| Alvin did great! |
| Alvin keeps his X-Wing Fighter parked in the garage where the empire won't find it. |
| That's a bag of bean bag chair beans we bought to refill a chair, it was stored on the top shelf of our closet... 100 Liters of beans... why is it empty and why does it sound like kids are having a good time behind the closed door? |
| ...Oh, maybe that's why! This is maybe the one time we just had to laugh and let them have a little more fun with their wicked doings... but Alvin (the ringleader) didn't get to sleep in his room for a week until we finished cleaning up! |
| Bear Lake with the Bradley Cousins - getting a treat at Zipps |
| All funned out... sure love these girls, and they love each other, too. |
| Stay Calm Becky, here, enjoy some of this Calm drink mix that I just dumped out all over the counter... |
| The Stratton's came to visit. We went for a hike up around Tony Grove Lake... Chelsi and Craig showed us how to make rad giant bubbles. |
| Kids had a good time in the chilly waters |
| Grandma and Grandpa Clements came for a couple of days and we had a blast at Bear Lake (Grandpa putting the finishing touches on the pyramid) |
| Alvin was really "into" the moat. |
| Melhena the mermaid - she had a fine time just basking in the sun on her little sandbar. |
| What's SUP kids? |
| We went to the Jump Zone the next day with Grandma and Grandpa - lots of fun! |
| Alvin very excited for his first day of Kindergarten! |
September 2016
| In September, we got the kids a trampoline! The nets are awesome... turns it into a giant pack-n-play! |
| Lydia's Rock N Roll Hair. |
| On our way to the Idaho Mountain Festival at Castle Rock State Park in September, we learned why they have highways in Idaho. |
October 2016
| The kids helping their Clark cousins sell tomatoes out in front of their house in Highland... I think they cleared $10 each! |
| Just because... |
| Lydia gliding on her strider bike! |
| Mel was so proud of her trick... holding a chestnut with her feet. |
| Princess Mel (October pumpkin walk) |
| Lydia Mouse |
| Master Alvin |
| Annotehr successful batch of Apple Sauce with the Clarks! |
| Nothing says "I love you" like a pancake... |
November 2016
| Just some quick glides to the bottom of the hill to not get too rusty... |
December 2016
Two new steel window wells... yeah, I think we can get those on top...
Alvin helping dad with the Christmas tree cutting.
| Cold noses and big smiles! |
| Hot chocolate and marshmallows... mmmm! |
| Just like their mom - happiest outside! |
| Yes, Becky, I think it's tall enough... |
| Lights... one way or another! |
| Doughnuts and hot chocolate at the community tree-lighting. |
| Making a list... |
... and checking it twice!
Of course, we had to wait until Christmas for our family's favorite gift this year... |
